Quick answer: start with the park or hotel you will already be visiting, then choose the meal style your family needs. A quick-service stop can keep the day flexible; a character or sit-down meal is worth planning around when the experience matters to you.
This is a selected guide to Disney World restaurants for UK families, designed to help you make a shortlist. Each card explains the food style, a possible family fit and something to consider before choosing. Use the official menu for current dishes and prices, and check the correct breakfast, lunch or dinner option.
Quick-service
Counter-service and food-court meals, including the casual or fast-food options UK visitors often look for. Usually the easiest fit for flexible meal times.
Table service
Sit-down meals ordered from a menu, served family-style or offered as a buffet. Check availability and make reservations where recommended.
Character dining
A meal with scheduled character appearances. It is a type of table-service experience; the characters and meal format depend on the venue and meal period.
Find somewhere that fits your day
Browse the five sections below, or narrow the shortlist by location, meal style or a restaurant name.
Character results can include a venue with characters at only one meal period. At Sanaa, the quick-service option is breakfast only; lunch and dinner are table service.
No venues match that combination. Try a different location, a broader food term or reset the filters.
Magic Kingdom restaurants
Start with the food your family will enjoy, then decide whether a character buffet or themed sit-down meal deserves a place in the day.
Columbia Harbour House
Magic Kingdom
Seafood and American-style meals
Family fit: A useful shortlist option when your family wants seafood rather than another burger meal.
Plan around this: Check the current non-seafood choices before choosing it for a mixed group.
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe
Magic Kingdom
Rice bowls, barbecue-inspired dishes and burgers
Family fit: Worth comparing when adults want a bowl or barbecue flavours alongside familiar choices.
Plan around this: Build your choice from the current menu; older reviews may describe different dishes.
Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe
Magic Kingdom
Burgers, chicken strips and plant-based options
Family fit: A practical starting point for families looking for familiar counter-service food.
Plan around this: Sonny Eclipse provides musical entertainment; this is not a character meet-and-greet meal.
The Crystal Palace
Magic Kingdom
American buffet with Winnie the Pooh and friends
Family fit: Consider it when meeting the Hundred Acre Wood characters is a planned part of the day.
Plan around this: Disney advises allowing around 90 minutes to engage with all available characters. Book around your park plans.
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen
Magic Kingdom
African, Asian and Latin-inspired dishes
Family fit: A shortlist choice for a family happy to explore flavours beyond the usual park fast food.
Plan around this: Read the menu together before booking, particularly if some children prefer very plain meals.
EPCOT restaurants
World Showcase offers plenty of choice, but crossing the park for every meal can make a day feel busy. Pick an option near the part of EPCOT you plan to explore.
Connections Eatery
EPCOT
Burgers, pizza and salads
Family fit: Useful when different members of the family want different familiar meal types.
Plan around this: Check the restaurant menu rather than confusing it with the separate Connections Cafe coffee stop.
Sunshine Seasons
EPCOT - The Land Pavilion
Hot lunch dishes and later grab-and-go food
Family fit: A convenient candidate when your park plans already include The Land Pavilion.
Plan around this: The food offering changes later in the day. Check which counters and dishes are available at your intended meal time.
Katsura Grill
EPCOT - Japan Pavilion
Japanese dishes including teriyaki and curry
Family fit: Worth a look for families who already enjoy Japanese flavours and want a casual World Showcase meal.
Plan around this: Compare the sauces and ingredients with what your children normally enjoy before ordering.
Garden Grill Restaurant
EPCOT - The Land Pavilion
American family-style character dining
Family fit: A possible fit when you want character dining with food brought to the table rather than buffet trips.
Plan around this: The restaurant slowly rotates. Consider whether that setting will suit everyone in your party.
Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria
EPCOT - Italy Pavilion
Italian pizza, pasta and salads
Family fit: A useful sit-down option to compare when pizza or pasta is a reliable family choice.
Plan around this: Disney currently advises booking ahead rather than relying on a same-day lunch or dinner reservation.
Hollywood Studios restaurants
Use the setting as part of the decision: Star Wars theming, a character buffet and a playful 1950s meal suit different families and different days.
Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo
Disney's Hollywood Studios - Galaxy's Edge
Themed savoury meals in a Star Wars setting
Family fit: A good candidate when the setting is part of the appeal and you want a meal during your Galaxy's Edge visit.
Plan around this: Read the ingredients behind the themed dish names. Indoor and outdoor seating are offered.
ABC Commissary
Disney's Hollywood Studios
Sandwiches, tacos and plant-based dishes
Family fit: Worth comparing when you want casual food with a little more variety than one main burger option.
Plan around this: Check Mobile Order availability and the current menu before setting your meal time.
Backlot Express
Disney's Hollywood Studios
Burgers and chicken bowls
Family fit: A practical choice to consider for families looking for familiar counter-service meals.
Plan around this: Check the current dishes and ordering windows in the app; allow time for food preparation.
Hollywood & Vine
Disney's Hollywood Studios
American buffet with seasonal character dining
Family fit: Consider it when a character meal is one of the experiences your family wants to build the day around.
Plan around this: Disney currently lists Minnie and friends at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Themes and appearances can change.
50's Prime Time Cafe
Disney's Hollywood Studios
American comfort food in a 1950s kitchen setting
Family fit: A potential fit for families who enjoy playful service and the restaurant theme as part of the meal.
Plan around this: The table-manners humour may not suit every child. Choose the atmosphere as carefully as the food.
Animal Kingdom restaurants
Balance food preferences with the park route. Check the opening hours for your intended meal, particularly if you are relying on a later quick-service stop.
Satu'li Canteen
Disney's Animal Kingdom - Pandora
Grain, vegetable and protein-based meals
Family fit: Worth considering when you want a substantial counter-service meal with different flavour combinations.
Plan around this: Look at the components and sauces before ordering for children who prefer foods kept separate.
Flame Tree Barbecue
Disney's Animal Kingdom
Smoked meats, chicken and barbecue sides
Family fit: A useful option for families who enjoy barbecue flavours and want a casual park meal.
Plan around this: Check the whole meal combination before ordering extras; sides and portions vary by dish.
Harambe Market
Disney's Animal Kingdom - Harambe
Burgers, wraps, chicken and salads
Family fit: Worth comparing for a mixed group that wants some familiar meals in an outdoor market setting.
Plan around this: It is open-air. Check both the weather and the meal-time opening hours before making it your only plan.
Tusker House Restaurant
Disney's Animal Kingdom - Harambe
African-inspired and American buffet with characters
Family fit: A candidate when you want Donald and friends alongside a buffet that offers both familiar and different flavours.
Plan around this: Treat it as a planned character experience and leave space around the booking for a relaxed meal.
Yak & Yeti Restaurant
Disney's Animal Kingdom - Asia
Pan-Asian dishes and familiar children's choices
Family fit: A possible fit for adults who want Asian-inspired food while checking simpler choices for children.
Plan around this: This is the table-service restaurant. The adjacent Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes is a separate quick-service venue.
Selected Disney resort restaurants
Eight options across selected hotels. Check the exact resort or building and the journey from your accommodation before committing to a meal away from the parks.
Chef Mickey's
Disney's Contemporary Resort
American breakfast and dinner character buffet
Family fit: Consider it for a planned character meal at a Disney hotel, especially when a non-park meal fits your itinerary.
Plan around this: Allow time to reach the Contemporary. A meal booking does not include admission to Magic Kingdom.
'Ohana
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
Family-style breakfast or Polynesian-themed dinner
Family fit: Choose breakfast if Lilo and Stitch are the reason for booking; consider dinner for the family-style meal itself.
Plan around this: Characters appear at breakfast only. Check Disney's current maintenance notice if a lagoon view matters to you.
Sanaa
Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village
African cooking with Indian flavours
Family fit: A possible resort meal for families interested in bread service, curry-style dishes and the savanna setting.
Plan around this: Quick-service breakfast; table service at lunch and dinner. This is at Kidani Village. A particular table or animal view is not guaranteed.
Boma - Flavors of Africa
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jambo House
African-inspired and American breakfast and dinner buffet
Family fit: Consider it for a family that likes sampling different dishes at a resort meal.
Plan around this: Boma is a buffet without character dining. Go to Jambo House, rather than Sanaa's Kidani Village location.
Capt. Cook's
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
Breakfast dishes, sandwiches and salads
Family fit: A casual option to consider while staying at or visiting the Polynesian.
Plan around this: Choose this for a simple meal rather than a character experience; check the current breakfast and later menus separately.
Gasparilla Island Grill
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Breakfast plates, burgers, flatbreads and sandwiches
Family fit: Worth considering for a casual meal if the Grand Floridian already fits your route.
Plan around this: Check the resort's refurbishment notice and access arrangements before travelling there specifically for a meal.
Landscape of Flavors
Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Food-court choices including burgers, pizza and salads
Family fit: A practical hotel meal option when several family members want different familiar dishes.
Plan around this: Particularly useful when staying here; weigh up the journey before making a special trip from another hotel.
Everything POP Shopping & Dining
Disney's Pop Century Resort
American food-court meals and desserts
Family fit: A useful option for keeping a meal straightforward while staying at Pop Century.
Plan around this: Check the food stations and meal periods for your visit. A hotel food court can be enough for an easy evening.
How I would plan meals for a UK family holiday
I would keep a familiar option nearby
A menu full of new flavours can be appealing, but I would still check that each child has something they would willingly eat. I would make that decision before everyone becomes tired and hungry.
I would choose the experience first
For a character meal, I would ask which characters and meal format suit the family. Paying for an experience nobody especially wants would be difficult to justify, even if it looks popular online.
I would protect some easy evenings
On arrival day or after a long park day, I would keep a hotel food-court meal as a sensible option. A short journey and a relaxed finish can matter more than another reservation.
I would plan the journey as well as the meal
I would check the exact hotel, transport and return journey before booking a resort restaurant. Use our 14-day Orlando itinerary to see where a slower meal could fit.
Before you book or order
Match the meal to your park access
A restaurant booking inside a park does not guarantee entry. Check your ticket and any applicable reservation requirements. Our Disney World ticket guide explains the main UK ticket options.
Check the whole family cost
Compare the current menu for the meal you want, including drinks, children's charges, tax and tips where applicable. Use our Orlando holiday cost calculator to keep dining in the wider budget.
Check the booking conditions
Popular table-service meals need advance planning. Check each restaurant's booking and cancellation policy; missed reservations and late changes can incur fees. A quick-service order still needs preparation time.
Discuss dietary requirements
For allergies or other dietary needs, read Disney's special dietary requests guidance and speak to the restaurant team before ordering. Menu labels here cannot confirm suitability.
For meals at another hotel, check Disney's current resort parking guidance and the hotel's access arrangements. Plan parking around the dining visit.
Using a Disney Dining Plan?
Restaurant choice and Dining Plan choice are connected, but they answer different questions. Before relying on a credit, check the restaurant's current participation, meal period, travel year and any extra charges.
Read our Disney Dining Plan guide for UK families for plan comparisons and the questions to ask before paying for a package.
Disney World restaurant FAQs
Does this guide list every Disney World restaurant?
No. It is a researched shortlist of 28 venues: five in each of the four theme parks and eight at selected resort hotels. It does not cover every hotel, snack cart, lounge, festival booth, water park or Disney Springs restaurant.
What does quick-service mean at Disney World?
Quick-service means a casual counter-service or food-court meal, often with Mobile Order available. It includes more than burgers and chips. Table service is a sit-down restaurant meal, which may be ordered from a menu, served family-style or offered as a buffet.
Do I need a Disney Dining Plan to eat at these restaurants?
No. A Dining Plan is an optional way to prepay for eligible meals on a qualifying package. You can pay separately. If using a plan, check the exact restaurant, meal period, travel year and credit requirements before booking.
Are all character meals the same?
No. Characters, menus and service styles differ. At Ohana, the character experience is at breakfast, not dinner. Check the named experience for your chosen meal and date; character appearances are subject to change.
Can we dine at a Disney hotel on a non-park day?
A resort meal can fit a non-park day. Disney welcomes day guests for selected hotel dining experiences. Check the hotel access, transport and parking arrangements, and make a restaurant reservation where appropriate. A dining booking does not include theme park admission.
How should I compare menu prices from the UK?
Compare the total for the people eating, including drinks, any extras, applicable tax and gratuities. A buffet price per person is different from the price of one main course. Check the current official menu and keep any conversion to pounds as a planning estimate.
What if someone has an allergy or dietary requirement?
Discuss the requirement with Disney before ordering and follow its current special dietary requests guidance. Ingredients and preparation can change, so a food description or family recommendation here cannot confirm that a meal is suitable.
