Yes. Universal Studios Florida is still one of Orlando’s best theme parks for UK visitors, especially if you enjoy Harry Potter, Minions, The Simpsons, movie-themed rides, character experiences, and detailed themed lands. It works well as a full-day park and pairs easily with Islands of Adventure if you have Park-to-Park tickets.
The biggest change for returning visitors is that Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is no longer operating. The coaster closed permanently in August 2025. Universal has since announced Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a new high-speed coaster planned for Universal Studios Florida in 2027. Fast & Furious – Supercharged remains open for now but is also scheduled to close in 2027.
For Universal Studios Florida alone, one full day is usually enough for the main rides, Diagon Alley, shows, food stops, and character areas. If you are visiting during UK school holidays or combining it with Islands of Adventure, a multi-day Universal ticket gives you a much more relaxed trip.
You only need a Park-to-Park ticket if you want to visit more than one Universal Orlando park on the same day. It is especially useful if you want to ride the Hogwarts Express between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Without Park-to-Park access, you can still enjoy Universal Studios Florida, but you cannot switch parks during the day.
The Harry Potter area inside Universal Studios Florida is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley. This is where you will find the London waterfront, the hidden entrance to Diagon Alley, Gringotts Bank, Knockturn Alley, shops, food, Butterbeer, and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.
The top attractions to plan around include Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, Revenge of the Mummy, TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D, MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, and Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast. For 2026, do not include Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit in your ride list because it has closed.
Yes, but it depends on your child’s age and tolerance for motion-based rides. Younger children may enjoy Minion Land on Illumination Ave, DreamWorks Land, character meets, shows, and gentler attractions. Older children and teens are more likely to enjoy the bigger rides such as Revenge of the Mummy, TRANSFORMERS, MEN IN BLACK, and Escape from Gringotts.
Express Pass can be worth it if you are visiting during Easter, summer, October half term, Christmas, or other peak travel dates. It is most useful if you only have one day at Universal Studios Florida and want to reduce queue time. If you are visiting during a quieter period or have multiple Universal days, you may not need it every day.
Staying at a Universal Orlando Resort hotel can make your trip much easier. You are closer to the parks, can use Universal transport, and may receive selected hotel benefits depending on where you stay. It is especially useful if you want early starts, midday breaks, or easy access to Universal CityWalk in the evening.
The biggest mistake is treating Universal Studios Florida as just a half-day park. Even with Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit now closed, there is still plenty to do. The park is best enjoyed when you leave time for Diagon Alley, themed streets, shows, food, character moments, and slower exploring rather than only rushing from ride to ride.
