Blizzard Beach: the quick answer

Disney's Blizzard Beach is a good choice for families wanting a mix of big slides, side-by-side races, a long family raft ride, a gentler wave pool and well-defined areas for younger children.

As a planning allowance, set aside around four to six hours for a few priorities and breaks. Keen slide riders may prefer longer, while younger children may be happier with a shorter visit. Queues and weather can change what you fit in.

A Blizzard Beach plan for family time

Choose a base, secure belongings and agree a meeting point and which adult is supervising each child.
Start with Teamboat Springs if suitable for everyone. Check the loading instructions; smaller parties may share a raft.
Choose a suitable mat slide or a slower visit to Cross Country Creek, then take a proper meal and shade break.
Repeat one family favourite if everyone has energy, leaving enough time for changing and the journey back.

For a half-day visit, choose a small number of priorities and keep time for a meal, shade and changing. Leave an attraction out if its wait or suitability does not fit your group.

Start with your family priorityThrill riders can prioritise an operating headline slide. Families with smaller children can begin in an appropriate child area rather than following the mountain route.

Group nearby mountain ridesIf heading uphill, check chairlift eligibility and the queue before choosing it or the stairs. Slush Gusher is currently unavailable.

Regroup for Teamboat SpringsChoose the raft ride if it suits everyone, following the loading instructions. If adults split up, agree a clear meeting point and who stays with each child.

Take a proper food and shade breakEat before everyone becomes tired, drink water and reapply sun protection as directed. Check the weather before adding more slides.

Choose a suitable child area or raceTry suitable mat or tube slides, or spend time at Tike's Peak or individual Ski Patrol features. Check the maximum-height rules and water depth.

Slow the paceUse Cross Country Creek or a suitable part of Melt-Away Bay, or take a dry rest. Moving water still needs close supervision.

Which Blizzard Beach attractions suit your family?

An official "any height" label does not mean every attraction suits every child. Consider swimming confidence, dark sections, speed, water depth and whether family members are comfortable riding separately.

Summit Plummet

A near-vertical body slide with a 122 cm minimum height. It is best for confident thrill seekers and should be tackled early if it is a priority.

Head-to-head race

Downhill Double Dipper

Two riders race on separate inner tubes through enclosed slides. The minimum height is 122 cm, so check every intended rider first.

Family priority

Teamboat Springs

A rotating family raft ride listed for any height. Smaller parties may share a raft; follow Cast Member instructions on the current loading arrangement.

Three choices

Runoff Rapids

Three inner-tube slides offer different routes, including a dark enclosed centre slide. Talk through that difference before joining the queue.

Race together

Snow Stormers and Toboggan Racers

Headfirst mat slides with several lanes make it easier for families to ride at the same time and compare finishes.

Slower pace

Cross Country Creek and Melt-Away Bay

Use the lazy river and wave pool between more demanding slides. The wave action here is gentler than Typhoon Lagoon's surf pool.

A scenic route towards the summit for guests at least 81 cm tall. Guests 122 cm and under need an adult aged 18 or over. Stairs provide another route; tubes and mats cannot go on the chairlift.

Planning with babies and younger children

Use the maximum-height areas correctly

Tike's Peak is designed for children 122 cm or shorter. Adults can supervise from permitted positions but may not be allowed to use child-restricted features.

Do not treat "any height" as "any ability"

Teamboat Springs, Runoff Rapids and the wave pool still involve moving water, splashdowns or dark sections. Judge suitability individually.

Choose one meeting point

If adults split for bigger rides, agree one precise landmark and avoid relying solely on phones around water.

Protect rest time

Schedule shade, drinks and dry time before a child becomes cold or overtired. A shorter successful visit is better than forcing a full day.

What UK families should wear and pack

Secure, family-appropriate swimwear without exposed metal.
Comfortable water shoes for hot or rough paths.
A rash vest if it helps with sun coverage and comfort.
Swim nappies or plastic pants for children who need them.

Pack

Water-resistant broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Refillable water bottles and permitted snacks.
Dry clothes and a waterproof bag for wet items.
Any essential medication in suitable protective storage.

Important swimwear rule: Disney does not allow exposed buckles, rivets, zips, metal or sharp items on attractions. Denim and neoprene are not permitted on Summit Plummet or Slush Gusher.

Food, lockers, towels and shade

Food

Quick-service meals, snacks and drinks are available, but locations and menus can change. Eat before peak hunger if children tire quickly.

Coolers

Coolers are inspected. Disney prohibits loose or dry ice, glass and alcoholic drinks brought into the park. Reusable ice packs are accepted.

Lockers

Lockers are available to rent. Secure phones, wallets, travel documents and other items that should not be left at a lounger.

Towels

Complimentary towels are currently available at Beach Haus and Snowless Joe's. Check the collection arrangements when you arrive.

Life jackets

Life jackets are complimentary. Children's sizes are on racks around the park; ask at Beach Haus for an adult size. They do not replace close supervision.

Shade

Standard seating is first come, first served. Reserved umbrellas and patio areas are optional paid extras, subject to availability.

Getting to Blizzard Beach

Driving

Standard parking is currently complimentary and first come, first served. Save your vehicle location and allow time to change before driving back.

Disney Resort transport

Disney bus transport may involve a transfer at a selected location. Check the current route from your exact resort.

Taxi or ride app

Confirm the correct pick-up point and avoid booking a collection for a time the family may struggle to meet.

Heat, thunderstorms and cooler days

Hot conditions

Water does not prevent sunburn or dehydration. Use shade, drink regularly and follow sunscreen instructions.

Thunderstorms

Outdoor attractions may pause when lightning is nearby. Follow Cast Member instructions and expect plans to change quickly.

Cooler weather

Melt-Away Bay is heated, but cool air and wind can still make wet children uncomfortable. Bring dry clothes and allow breaks out of the water.

Flexible-ticket tip: if your admission and wider itinerary allow it, keep the water-park day movable until the forecast becomes clearer.
