Disney’s Blizzard Beach Guide for UK Families 2026 & 2027

1. Summit Plummet

Best for: Teenagers, adults and confident thrill-seekers
Minimum height: 48 inches / 122 cm
Priority: Very high for thrill-ride fans

Summit Plummet is Blizzard Beach’s signature attraction.

Riders climb to the top of Mount Gushmore before descending an almost vertical body slide. The descent begins with a drop equivalent to around 12 storeys and continues at considerable speed towards the splashdown area.

The experience is extremely brief but very intense. You cannot clearly see the entire drop from the starting position, which makes the launch feel even more intimidating.

Ride Summit Plummet shortly after opening if it is one of your priorities. The exposed queue and stairways can become uncomfortable during the hottest part of the day.

This attraction is not suitable for anyone who dislikes steep drops, high speed or the sensation of losing contact with the slide.

2. Teamboat Springs

Best for: Families wanting to ride together
Height requirement: Any height
Priority: High

Teamboat Springs is one of Blizzard Beach’s strongest family attractions.

Guests board a large circular raft and travel through approximately 1,200 feet of turns, banks and splashes. The raft rotates as it moves, meaning nobody can predict who will face forwards or backwards during each section.

Teamboat Springs uses large group rafts. Smaller parties may be asked to share with other guests, and Cast Members determine raft loading at the attraction.

The attraction is exciting without being as intimidating as Summit Plummet or Downhill Double Dipper. However, younger children should still be comfortable with splashing, spinning and fast-moving water.

Teamboat Springs begins near the top of Mount Gushmore. Eligible guests can use the Chairlift, while the attraction can also be reached using the stairs.

3. Downhill Double Dipper

Best for: Older children, teenagers and competitive adults
Minimum height: 48 inches / 122 cm
Priority: High

Downhill Double Dipper consists of two side-by-side enclosed tube slides.

Two riders wait behind retractable starting gates before being released at approximately the same time. Each rider then drops through a darkened section before reaching the splash pool.

The race element makes it particularly enjoyable for siblings, friends and parents competing against older children.

It is more intense than its relatively short duration suggests. The sudden start, darkness and drop may concern nervous riders even when they meet the height requirement.

4. Runoff Rapids

Best for: Families and visitors wanting varied tube slides
Height requirement: Any height
Priority: Medium to high

Runoff Rapids offers three different inner-tube slides.

The middle route is enclosed and considerably darker, while the two outside routes twist around the central slide. All three routes end in the same general splashdown area.

Because the routes feel different, families may want to ride more than once.

Although Disney lists Runoff Rapids as suitable for any height, the darkness and speed of the enclosed route may not suit nervous younger children. Start with an outside slide when you are unsure.

5. Slush Gusher

Best for: Older children and adults wanting a major thrill
Minimum height: 48 inches / 122 cm
Priority: High when operating

Slush Gusher is a 90-foot-long, high-speed body slide located beside Summit Plummet.

Rather than beginning with an almost vertical drop, riders travel over two large humps that can create brief sensations of lifting away from the slide before the final splashdown.

It is generally considered less extreme than Summit Plummet, but it should not be treated as a gentle alternative. The speed and moments of apparent weightlessness may still be uncomfortable for nervous riders.

Current status: Disney listed Slush Gusher as temporarily unavailable when this guide was checked on 20 July 2026. Check My Disney Experience before including it in your plans.

6. Toboggan Racers

Best for: Families, groups and friendly competition
Height requirement: Any height
Priority: Medium

Toboggan Racers is an eight-lane mat slide.

Riders lie headfirst on a mat and race over several dips during the descent. Because eight guests can ride at once, it is one of the best attractions for larger families and groups.

The headfirst riding position can make it feel faster than expected, but it is considerably less intimidating than Summit Plummet.

You will need to carry your mat to the starting area, which may be awkward for smaller children.

7. Snow Stormers

Best for: Children, teenagers and adults wanting a moderate mat slide
Height requirement: Any height
Priority: Medium

Snow Stormers contains three winding mat slides themed around a downhill slalom course.

Riders travel headfirst through a series of bends, passing ski-race markers before reaching the bottom.

Snow Stormers is generally more about controlled turns than large drops. It is a useful progression for children who have outgrown the play areas but are not ready for the park’s most intense slides.

8. Cross Country Creek

Best for: All ages and anyone wanting to rest
Height requirement: Any height
Priority: High for a relaxed visit

Cross Country Creek is Blizzard Beach’s lazy river.

Guests can enter at several different points and float around the park through caves, under bridges and past waterfalls, leaky pipes and other themed effects.

It is particularly useful:

• During the hottest part of the afternoon
• While older family members ride larger slides
• When children need time to calm down
• At the end of a busy morning
• For seeing much of the park without walking

You do not have to complete a full circuit. Leave at whichever landing is most convenient for your next attraction.

9. Melt-Away Bay

Best for: Families, younger swimmers and beach time
Height requirement: Any height
Priority: Medium

Melt-Away Bay is a large wave pool beneath Mount Gushmore.

The pool produces rolling waves rather than the much stronger surf-style waves found at Typhoon Lagoon. This can make it the more comfortable Disney wave-pool option for younger families and less confident swimmers.

The water becomes deeper as you move away from the beach. Adults should supervise children closely, even when they are wearing life jackets.

The surrounding sandy area provides plenty of seating, but the most convenient shaded locations can be taken quickly during busy periods.

10. Chairlift

Best for: Reaching the top of Mount Gushmore without climbing
Minimum height: 32 inches / 81 cm
Priority: Useful rather than essential

The Chairlift transports guests towards Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher and Teamboat Springs.

Children measuring 48 inches or shorter must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over. Guests below the minimum height can reach the summit using the stairs instead.

The Chairlift is part of the Blizzard Beach experience, but its queue can occasionally take longer than walking.

Use it once for the novelty and views. Take the stairs on repeat rides when the queue becomes inefficient.
