The right area makes the rest easier

Start with your busiest park days. Then decide how you will travel and how much room you need. Two hotels described as “near Disney” can mean very different daily journeys.

Disney Resort hotels

Start here for a Disney-heavy holiday and access to Disney’s transport network. A standard room, family suite and villa are different choices.

Universal’s original resort area

Compare for Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and CityWalk. Check hotel-specific benefits and transport to Epic Universe.

Epic Universe area

A useful focus for Epic-led trips. Helios Grand and Stella Nova offer different balances of park access, setting and likely cost.

Lake Buena Vista & Disney Springs

Compare Disney-area hotels when you want a choice beyond Disney-owned resorts. Pay attention to shuttle times and compulsory charges.

International Drive

Central I-Drive is useful for eating out; southern I-Drive has larger suite resorts. Choose the exact location, not just the road name.

SeaWorld & south Orlando

Consider for SeaWorld, Aquatica and Discovery Cove. Map each entrance and your journeys to Disney and Universal too.

Kissimmee & west-of-Disney resorts

Villa resorts, townhomes and condos can give you bedrooms and a kitchen. A car or a realistic paid-transport budget usually adds flexibility.

When a split stay is worth a look

If Disney and Universal each take several days, compare two bases. Balance shorter park journeys against moving luggage and another check-in.

How the original OHP Stay Match score works

We created this editorial model to make trade-offs visible. Every score is out of 100. It compares the 69 stays in this tool, not every property in Orlando. Scores do not use commission rates, guest-review averages or live prices.

30Park location
25Transport fit
20Budget style
15Room setup
10Holiday feel
  • Park location: each hotel has an editorial 0–5 location fit for Disney, the original Universal parks, Epic Universe and SeaWorld. We multiply the relevant fit by six. “Disney + Universal” weights these 50%, 25%, 25% and 0%; “a bit of everything” uses 30%, 25%, 20% and 25%.
  • Transport fit: a car scores 25 for flexibility. Rideshares use the average of the location fit and 5, multiplied by five. Hotel transport uses our 0–5 assessment of its usefulness for the selected parks, multiplied by five. These are planning judgements, not journey-time forecasts or live shuttle checks.
  • Budget style: room options have relative cost bands: value-leaning, mid-range, upper mid-range or premium. For “keep costs down” these score 20/12/4/0; “comfort for the cost” 15/20/15/7; “a resort treat” 7/11/17/20. “Compare every budget” gives all bands 20. There is no promise of a particular nightly rate.
  • Room setup: configurations failing your selected capacity or layout are removed first. Eligible rooms earn 10 points, plus 3 for a separate sleeping area (1 for an open room) and 2 if listed capacity exceeds your party size. This is a rough space signal; bed sizes and privacy still need checking.
  • Holiday feel: our pool, local dining, theming or resort-setting assessment scores up to 10. “Space to spread out” uses bedrooms and a separate sleeping area. A resort-setting score does not guarantee quietness.

Each factor is rounded, then added. We keep the highest-scoring eligible room option per hotel and show hotels in descending score order. Ties use park fit, transport fit, then hotel name. Area suggestions come from the highest-scoring eligible hotel in that area. 80–100 means a strong planning fit, 65–79 a useful fit, and below 65 more compromises.

Room examples are deliberately limited and conservative. An omitted hotel may have another suite that works; we have not assumed connecting rooms or availability. The provider must confirm occupancy, ages, accessibility, bed types and the exact room you book. A kitchenette does not pass the full-kitchen filter.

A few quick answers

Can I stay in Orlando without a car?

Yes, but choose around your actual journeys. Disney transport is most useful for Disney days; Universal hotel transport is most useful for Universal days. Off-site shuttles can have limited schedules. Even a strong match needs a plan for airport transfers and parks outside its network.

Does the highest score mean the best hotel?

It means the strongest fit for your answers among this shortlist. It is not a hotel-quality rating. A simpler hotel can score above a luxury resort when it better matches your budget style, parks and room needs.

Are the prices and rooms live?

No. This tool narrows your choices without asking for travel dates. Open the named provider to check current availability and the complete price for your dates, room, adults and children’s ages.

Can I use it for a large group or an accessible room?

The finder models selected configurations for up to eight people in one unit. For larger groups, run it for each room or unit you need. Accessibility features, connecting-room requests and particular bed arrangements need direct confirmation for the exact accommodation.

Do the hotel links include park tickets?

Not automatically. Some buttons go to hotel pages and others to package options. Check whether the quote includes flights, park admission, meals or transport. Hotel benefits also vary by property and dates.
