Benefits of Staying at a Disney Resort Hotel

Staying inside Walt Disney World can cost more than staying in an off-site Orlando hotel, but it provides several useful benefits.

Early Theme Park Entry

Disney Resort hotel guests currently receive 30-minute Early Theme Park Entry at all four Walt Disney World theme parks on every day of their stay.

This gives eligible guests access to selected attractions, shops and dining before the normal park opening time. Disney has confirmed that this benefit will continue through 2027.

Disney Resort Transportation

Complimentary Disney transport connects Disney Resort hotels with the theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs.

Transport options vary by hotel and can include:

  • Disney buses
  • Disney Skyliner
  • Monorail
  • Boats
  • Walking routes from selected hotels

Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Art of Animation Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort and Riviera Resort are connected to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios by the Disney Skyliner.

Earlier Lightning Lane Eligibility

Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel are eligible to purchase Lightning Lane passes up to seven days before the start of their stay, for visits during a stay of up to 14 days.

However, Disney’s UK information states that UK visitors should purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass after arriving in the United States. Availability and prices vary by date and park.

Extended Evening Theme Park Hours

Guests at eligible Disney Deluxe Resort hotels, Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts and selected other hotels can access extended evening hours at selected parks on selected nights.

This benefit is not available at every Disney hotel, but Disney has confirmed that it will continue through 2027.

Which Disney Resort Category Should You Choose?

Disney Resort hotels are generally divided into Value, Moderate and Deluxe categories.

The right category depends on how much time you expect to spend at the hotel, your preferred transport and the amount of space your family needs.

Disney Value Resorts

Value Resorts are normally the lowest-priced way to stay at a Disney Resort hotel.

They offer colourful Disney theming, swimming pools, food courts and Disney transport, although rooms and resort facilities are generally more basic than at Moderate and Deluxe hotels.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

Best for: value and Disney Skyliner access.

Pop Century is one of the strongest options for families who want an affordable Disney hotel with convenient transport to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Rooms are relatively compact, so consider how much luggage and living space your family will need during a longer stay.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort

Best for: families prioritising a lower Disney hotel price.

All-Star Movies provides recognisable Disney film theming and bus transport to the parks.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Disney Moderate Resorts

Moderate Resorts usually provide more detailed theming, larger grounds and additional dining and recreation options.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Best for: first-time families wanting convenient Skyliner transport.

Caribbean Beach is the main Disney Skyliner interchange. It provides direct connections towards EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The resort is large, so room location can significantly affect the amount of walking required.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter

Best for: a smaller and more relaxed Disney Resort.

French Quarter has a more compact layout than many other Disney hotels. It offers bus transport to the parks and boat transport to Disney Springs.

It can be a good choice for families who want a calmer hotel without moving into the Deluxe price category.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Best for: modern rooms and a wider choice of facilities.

Free Disney Dining can provide strong value when you already plan to stay at a participating Disney Resort hotel and eat most of your meals inside Walt Disney World.

The dining benefit included in the 2027 promotion depends on your hotel category.

Participating Value Resort packages can receive a quick-service meal benefit, while selected Moderate and Deluxe Resort packages may include a more comprehensive Disney Dining Plan.

The offer is likely to suit families who:

  • Plan to eat regularly inside Disney parks and hotels
